Radio 1 test

Greg James has been presenting the radio since the 20th August 2018. The age range for the target audience that the R1BS aim to attract is people under the age of 29 years old, but 30% of the 35-44 year olds watching the show think its aimed at their age group. Radio 1 has many ways that audience members can access their show including; listening live on their website, access to the radio station channel, mobile app etc. Radio 1 breakfast show also has a variety of ways for the audience to interact such as; various games the show does (pass the pasty, unpopular opinions and 10 minute takeover), having audience interviews and allowing the audience members to message the show when asked questions. The Radio 1 breakfast show fufils its remits by having loads of audience engagement consistently. Ben cooper states that you have to take account of all innovation, digital as well as physical. News reporters state how weekly listeners have dropped via the radio but not count the views on their social media. BBC radio 1 mainly plays British artists therefore promoting them. They also play a lot of new and undiscovered artists such as Sam Smith and ed Sheeran. During my slot of the show the genre of music played was grunge, pop with artist such as post malone and Sigrid. The show has done interviews with tones of celebrities from all origins. Celebrities that have been on the show include; Ariana Grande, Niall Horan, Hayley Williams, and Camila Cabello. Common news stories that can be heard on the show are sports related (latest football news etc), Goverment news including Brexit, immigration and local news. The show also gives out a lot of surprises -money, trips, tickets etc. BBC radio 2 targets a wider audience compared to Radio 1 which have a smaller age range for a target audience.
